Hate your hair? HELP . . . . . is on the way!

Sick of your same old strands?

I read in one magazine some of the different kinds of problem of a women with their hair. I want to share it with you because you might have the same problem like them. One lady who has been straightening her naturally curly hair for years. And while her upper arms look great from wielding the blow-dryer, her hair is starting to look fried.

Her hair was “very square and boxy. A fine cut for straight hair, but a terrible shape for curls.” After the result of the hair, it looks like this……

To style naturally curly hair, try curl activating conditioner, to rehydrate hair, styling cream on dap hair to create non-crispy curls; Stay smooth frizz-taming serumon dry hair before using a curling iron.

Here is another lady who is was afraid to make a change of her hair. She had the same haircut since high school. Not surprisingly, she’s afraid her ahir makes her look too young and unprofessional.

Her hairs is massively thick, almost like a mane. It’s frizzy and curly, making it the bulk of her hair without cutting in too many hard-to-blow-dry layers. If you have thick hair, wavy hair that you look like to wear straight, a flatiron is your best friend. See the result……

To tame thick, frizzy hair, try smooth all-over conditioner to moisture and mellow out a wild mane; Relax and Unwind Blow-Dry Straightening Balm on wet hair to calm any kinks; and Frizz-Taming Serum before using flatiron.

5 Sexy Beauty Updates for NOW (2 of 2)

4. Allover bright makeup

Admittedly, a full face of colorful makeup can make you look like a clown. But touch will do wonders to liven up a little black dress. “If really wild colors make you nervous, try a bit of green shadow just under your eyes or a sheer fuchsia lip gloss,” suggests Green.

Be sure to: Play. You’ll be surprised at how pretty a graphic splotch of, say, yellow shadow can look on your lids.

Forget about: Too much blending. “Carefully shading a bright is so Morgan Fairchild,” says Green. “The idea here is to be free—almost sloppy—not paint-by-numbers perfect.

5. Lavender eyes: light and not too bright
Shimmery lilac is a girly-sweet color that’s beautiful on everyone, says Green—and it won’t “bruise” your eyes like purples past. Good news for the less-than-coordinated: These sheer shadows are virtually mistakeproof.
Be sure to: Experiment with lots of smoky shades, black pencil may be too intense, especially if you’re fair. Besides, it’s notoriously hard to blend.
Forget about: Bare cheeks. Notes Green, “A bit of healthy warmth on your skin will keep you from looking Gothic.”

5 Sexy Beauty Updates for NOW (1 of 2)

Start sleeping in! the hottest makeup ideas are easier than they look. Here’s how to to9ne ‘em down, amp ‘em up and make them work for your skin tone and style. – Alexandra Marshall

1. The orange lips, really, really orange!

To avoid the just-gulped-some-Tang effect, says New York City makeup artist Charlie Green, think burnt orange it you’re dark shinned, tangerine if you’re medium or milky peach if you’re a paleface.

Be sure to: Use a light touch—orange can overpower your face.

Forget about: The eye-lip-cheek triple whammy. Stick to one or two orange features or you’ll look like George Hamilton.

2. Very “done” lashes . . . with an otherwise neutral face

Pare down your face and pump up your lashes—that’s how to do the new nude, says Green. This is the perfect look with jeans or anytime you don’t want to look too fussy. Sweep a shimmery neutral on lids, then curl lashes to open up your eyes. Top them off with several coats of mascara and you’re good to go.

Be sure to: Opt for sheer foundation, and bypass powder to make skin look its dewiest.
Forget about: Minimal mascara. This look needs eyes, big-time.

3. The new smoky eye, surprisingly wearable

To mimic these bold eyes, line yours all around with a dark pencil, color in your entire top lids to give you shadow something to grab onto. Next brush a matching shadow up into your lids’ creases and blend with a second, totally clean brush for minimum mess. If you want to tone it down, use less liner and smudge like crazy.

Evening Overhaul (2 of 2)

If you’ve got time for only one thing, make it this: “Walk into a room with gorgeously done-up lips,” says makeup artist Vincent longo,” and you’ll come across as polished,” [6] Channel Double Contraste Cheeks and Lips Compact (gloss.com) contains two high-gloss metallic lip colors and a pair of nonstreaking blushes in complementary pinky—plum shades.

*Then your hair

We repeat, don’t start from scratch! Tame your hair’s texture instead. Start by cleaning up greasy roots with a dry shampoo, [7] L’anza Be Long Spray Cleanse (lanza.com) wont leave a powdery residue. If you have curls, spray random sections with hairspray and tame frizzy ends with pomade. Give straight hair bounce by spritzing roots with a volumizing spray.

If you’ve got to cut corners, skip this: time-eaters like a curling iron or hot rollers. Blow-dry bangs to give them a lift.

If you’ve got time for only one thing, make it this: Tuck in a jeweled comb, a satin ribbon or small flowers. Finish with sparkly hairspray, or go for [8] Ralph Lauren Glamourous Shimmer Eau de Toilette (polo.com). it kisses hair and skin with a golden shimmer.

Got a spare second? Sweep on one more coat of mascara.

Evening Overhaul (1 of 2)

How to get very sexy, very quickly

Maybe you worked late. Or the dog needed a long walk. Or you couldn’t tear yourself away from E! True Hollywood Story (Linda Carter!). Now you’re scrambling to get ready for tonight’s outing. Thankfully, these new products can make a five-minute transformation a reality. Learn how to use them for maximum impact. – Stephanie Saulmon

*First, your make up

Repeat after us: Don’t start from scratch. Instead, layer bold eye makeup over whatever you’ve got on. “A deep shade adds drama,” says New York City makeup artist and hairstylist Paul Podlucky. Smudge a gray or brown into the creases of your lids; go daring with chartreuse or electric blue on your lids. “The key is blending,” says Podlucky. [1] Urban Decay Smoke Out Pencil (urbandecay.com) makes the job easy with its sponge tip. Or try a good-proof cream that you can sweep across lids with a finger, like [2] Guerlan Soft Colour Cream-to-Powder Eye-shadow (800-815-7720). Next, comb lashes to remove any mascara flakes before applying a fresh coat. [3] Shiseido The Makeup Distinguish mascara (shiseido.com) separates each lash while adding smudge-free fullness.

If you’ve got to cut corners, skip this: reapplying liquid foundation. Instead lightly mist your face with a water-filled spritzer to freshen up your base and diffuse any caking makeup. Tackle dry patches on cheeks or under eyes with moisturizer. [4] NARS Hydrating Freshening Lotion 9888-903-6277). Instantly softens, plus it gently exfoliates to reveal brighter skin. Then touch up with a light-reflecting powder; [5] Christian Dior DiorSkin (dior.com) gives great glow minus shine.

Your Eyelids

Q: Is it safe to line the insides of my eyelids?
A: No “Lining the inner rims blocks the tear glands that hydrate eyes,” says Anne Summers, M.D., a spokesperson for the American Academy of Opthalmology Over time, the practice can lead to irritation, lash loss, painful swelling (sites) or a more serious infection. To create a similar effect, gently line right at the lashes, concentrating on the outer corners. To try: Clarins Eye Shimmer Pencil; Physicians Formula Eye Definer Automatic Eye Pencil.

60 seconds to… red-hot lips!

Spice up your look in a jiffy by trading neutral lipstick for—drum roll, please—red. Scarlet lips exude confidence and glamour. Three simple steps to kissing your plain pout good-bye.

Soften that pucker. Bold color calls attention to chapped lips. Exfoliate by brushing a wet toothbrush against lips before applying red. Follow with a moisturizing primer.

Get in line. Light shades look fine smudgy, but look-at-me red demands a defined border. To create a steady edge, make a dot at the center of the top lip and at each of the upper peaks with a pencil in the same hue as your lipstick. Connect the dots with the liner. Then, from the peaks, draw downward and stop halfway. Finally, starting at each corner, go upward until you meet the initial line. On the bottom, begin at one corner and stop at the center; repeat on the opposite side.

Fill with the right shade. As a rule, “deep red such as wine go best with light skin, while brighter shades like brick are better on olive or dark skin.

Love Your Hair … Get Salon-Straight Hair at Home

Want strands so sleek and shiny, people can see their reflection in them? Get the straight story here.

Balm it. Smooth straightening serum on damp hair to avoid frizz and prevent heat damage. Light weight Tula Styling won’t drag hair down. If your hair is very curly or coarse, try a thick formula like Straight-up Ironing Gel. Don’t apply too much on top or your hair will have as much body as overcooked spaghetti.

Blast it. The funnel-shaped piece that came with your dryer wasn’t an inspector overnight. A narrow nozzle, like the one on Physique’s new Turbo Hair Dryer, focuses air pressure so that hair isn’t blown into a frizzy tizzy. Part hair in three sections, and divide each into three layers. Place a brush beneath a two-inch piece of hair and, with the dryer nozzle aimed down, very slowly glide blow-dryer and brush in one synchronized slide. Repeat on all sections.

Press it. Stylists’ secret weapon for getting Penelope Cruz hair: a straightening iron. Keep it moving down fluidly or you risk clamp marks and singeing. Tools with teeth for grabbing hair, like Professional Straightening Iron, do a good job of straight-jacketing strands. If your hair is fragile or fried, consider Ion-Retexturizing Iron. It won’t scorch hair since it moisturizes as it straightens.

Age-Defying Collagen

Good day everyone! Most of us women were afraid to get old. Here’s one tip I should give you to promote those silky skin without worrying too much as we grow old.

As we age, our skin becomes more prone to wrinkles, dryness and sagging. As the skin around the mouth is relatively thinner that the rest of the face, we tend to develop deep lines around that area. Some feels bad about their neck, the neck area also proves to be a problem as we mature. In fact, after the age of 25, the hypodermis (fat layer) in this area starts thinning, leading to loss of firmness. With skin thickness that is only a third of that on our forehead and cheeks, the eye area is also one of the first to show signs of aging. Under the eyes, there’s no sebaceous gland to keep skin supple and resilient. And after 35, our skin suffers overall dryness.

While it may be true that aging is dreadful, we still have an ally called collagen to delay the aging process. Collagen is the main structural component of our skin, a connective tissue that holds everything together. The sad truth though is that aging damages the 3D collagen structure of the skin, resulting in loss of firmness and sagging. But if we fight aging on that level, we definitely have a big chance of looking younger, longer.

Recently, the face shop introduced Flebeaute Collagenic, which can replace our native collagen due to their human-like structure, thanks to such ingredients as phyto-collagen and marine-collagen. Also added in the formulation are saffron to promote faster cell regeneration and orchid extract, which is known to extend longevity of cell.

Beat the Clock

1-minute makeover
In a classic case of “too much of a good thing,” a woman on her way to work, wearing what seemed to be the entire contents of her jewelry box. With so much great jewelry out there, it’s an easy mistake to make—and and even easier one to fix

avoid
Wearing too many necklace at once. Seven layers is about three too many—it ends up looking messy, not interesting. Choose up to four strands of different lengths to make the layered-necklace look work.
Pairing big earrings with a bold necklace, even if they “match”. When choosing accessories, let one eye=catching piece be the star of the show.
Adding a big brooch to a crowded neckline. Brooches look most current when worn alone or with a dainty, barely-there necklace.

try
Wearing one trendy piece at a time, like a multi-strand necklace (which also makes for a no-fail layered look). It adds dynamic punch to your outfit.
Choosing a simple bracelet for balance. A classic cuff bracelet adds modern polish and perfectly complements chunky necklaces or chandelier earrings.
Leaving your earlobes bare. If you’ve got a focal-point necklace and a bold bracelet, skip the earrings. You won’ feel naked (wear studs if you think you will, and the pieces you do wear will stand out all the more.

Prepare to go bare

Spring means showing off skin, so make yours soft and smooth.

The idea of body-revealing shorts and tanks prompts even the laziest of us to take grooming seriously. (No more hiding prickly calves under wool pants!) But fears of dry, irritated skin and self-tanner streaks can stop you in your tracks. Procrastinate no more. The solutions will get you in ready-to-reveal condition in a flash!

Pitfall Itchy razor burn on your legs and bikini line

Go-bare solutions Those unsightly bumps have two causes. Women tend to skip shaving cream and go over the same area many times, which is irritating, says Roger Ceilley, M.D. a dermatologist. Let the cream be your guide. Lather up; once it’s gone, move on.

Pitfall Splotches and streaks from your self-tanner

Go-bare solutions Dry spots, which have a lot of dead skin cells, soak up too much self-tanner, resulting in blotches. Before you tan, scrub with a body loofah (or, for your face, a washcloth). Pass on exfoliating products (many contains oils, which form a layer on skin) and thoroughly remove your makeup; both will prevent the formula from absorbing. For six hours after an application, avoid bathing, swimming, moisturizing and working out. All disrupt the chemical reaction with skin that creates the tan.

Pitfall Red, irritated underarms

Go-bare solutions In warmer months, increased use of antiperspirants, along with more frequent underarm shaving, can cause redness. Stave off irritation by applying sweat proofers only on the dark area under arms where hair grows. That’s where the vast majority of active sweat glands are. Skin beyond this area is more sensitive to chemicals. A stay-dry hint: Before applying antiperspirant, be sure your armpits are completely dry. Waterlogged skin blocks active ingredients from penetrating sweat glands. – Leah Wyar

When you’re all tuckered out, the last thing you’ll want to tackle is that before-bed beauty pentathlon of washing, toner-ing, moisturizing, brushing and flossing. But don’t dive under your duvet in defeat. Get ready for bed with products that might actually help you have a better night’s sleep. Give your mouth a rest Cool mint toothpaste can perk you up in the morning, but at night you need something calming, says GoSmile founder Jonathan B. Levine, D.M.D., a dentist in New York City. He included lavender, chamomile and vanilla in GoSmile PM Toothpast, as well as extract of valerian root, which has been shown to improve your snooze. Put tired skin to bed According to recent research, , skin tends to lose more moisture at night. To keep it hydrated, slather on a soporific body lotion like Nivea Renewal Night Cream with cardamom, a cousin of ginger and a natural relaxer. Get instant aromatheraphy Dab a little Qiora Inner Serum on your wrists and inhale deeply for a few minutes. The scents of sandalwood, rose and iris may relieve stress and clear your cluttered head before it hits the pillow. Sweet dreams. – Shannan Rouss

Nailing it

Good morning friends. There are women who were very particular on their nails. Some use bright nail polish and some use natural color. But the important is that we should always see to it our nail is clean.

IT’S no secret. The Fashion Freaks love nail polish.

We fell hard for Hard Candy, and the adorable plastic rings that came with each bottle. We went goth with Urban Decay.

We also adore Essie’s sweet shades and OPI’s funky named collections. Even Shu Uemura’s glamorous colors send our hearts racing. We’ve drooled over Chanel’s Vamp and now pore over Ebay’s pages in search of the elusive limited-edition Chanel Black Satin.

And then we found another great source for a quick (and affordable) nail color fix: Elianto.
Elianto, a beauty brand from Malaysia, does not just offer a wide assortment of naturally inspired body and skin care products and a cosmetics line made especially for countries with hot and humid weather. It also boasts of an extensive nail care line. (Try the nail polish remover, which is safe and smells great.)

Elianto offers 60 brilliant nail polish colors that you can play with. Our favorites include Shine Star, Deep Pink, Neon Purple, Khaki Pearl, Neo Kissy Pink, X-Rose, Light Gold Pearl and Soft Purple. For just P99 for each bottle, you can start your own nail color collection.

And to show you just how much fun you can have with nail polish, Elianto will offer free Accent Nail Art for a minimum purchase of P200 on nail care products at Elianto’s SM North Edsa store on Nov. 11 and 12. Elianto’s nail polish is long-lasting, quick-drying and boasts of a chip-resistant formulation—perfect for nail art that you’d want to flaunt for a long time.

Let special nail artist Tricia Chua transform your nails with bold hues, vibrant shades and chic designs.Visit Elianto at SM North Edsa-The Block for your free Accent Nail Art. Elianto is also available in SM Mall of Asia, SM City Fairview, SM City Clark and will soon open in SM City Manila. - Pam Pastor

Ancient routine revolutionizes skin care (2)

It is Awake’s belief that the extent of the damage wrought to the skin by external factors, much like on a tree, can’t be fully analyzed just by looking at the surface. This is why it aims to fight skin aging by tackling it from within.

Sign Revolution is a six-step skin care routine that may be daunting for Filipino women used to the basic cleanse-tone-moisturize regimen. But the Japanese seem to believe in the adage “no pain, no gain”—and justifiably so.

Step 1 is the Sign Revolution Cleanse, a gel that transforms to oil upon contact with dry skin. Used in the nighttime, it dissolves makeup and oxidized sebum.
Step 2 is the Wash, a deep-cleansing, rich foaming liquid, for both day and night.

Step 3 is the Lotion Concentrate that works as a light moisturizing toner to prime the skin for further moisturizing. It is followed by the Fluid.
Step 4 which both softens and firms up the skin. Both products are used for day and night.

‘Common’ routine

The thick, high-moisture Cream is the fifth step. Used in the evening, it functions as a protective film to seal in the skin’s moisture. The Cream, says Oka, stops oxidation and balances the skin’s oil and moisture. The Eye Cream is the final step, moisturizing and firming up the skin around the eye area.

The moisturization steps may seem a bit much, but Oka insists this routine is “very common” in Japan. She hopes that, like the skin-whitening craze, this exacting if laborious skin care process will be adopted by most women.

“Whitening used to be a trend,” she notes, “but now it’s so basic. It’s no longer a big deal. It’s part of every Japanese woman’s routine… You have to know that we want a brighter complexion, not ‘whiter’ skin as some believe.”

Oka says modern women are now more sophisticated when it comes to makeup and skin care so that a lot of money is invested by cosmetics companies into research and product development.

“Skin care has become more diverse and technical, and the market’s demands are more complex. Today a mascara isn’t just a mascara. You have to be able to give something more.”

Ancient routine revolutionizes skin care (1)

Good morning everyone. Some of the people were so conscious about their skin. Some don’t mind it at all. Those who were conscious about it do anything just to have that flawless skin. Others who were not used to use make up is not a big deal to them as long as they have that beautiful skin.

IF you’ve ever wondered about the secret to the Japanese’s enviably fine, translucent skin, a Japanese woman reveals there’s a lot more involved than just having good genes. Basic skin care for our neighbors in the north, Yuko Oka says, involves several steps. The soap-and-water regimen just wouldn’t do.

The first part involves ridding the face of all surface dirt, makeup and sebum (oil). Some serious cleansing to eliminate deep-seated dirt that can clog the pores and dull the complexion follows. Then there’s exfoliating, toning and moisturizing.

“I know it seems a lot of work, but this is the way it’s been for generations,” explains Oka, a woman in her 20s who can very well be the poster girl of this age-old regimen with her bright, clear complexion.Oka is also a planner for Awake, a Japanese prestige skin care and makeup brand. Her job, she says, involves studying and setting trends for skin care.

Skin hydration

On her recent visit to the Philippines, Oka introduced Awake’s new skin care series that adapts the Japanese’s ancient routine to modern times.Available in October at Rustan’s, the Sign Revolution line is specifically intended for women aged 30 and above, women whose skin is beginning to show the ravages of lifestyle stresses and severe environment.

Part of Awake’s high-end Platinum series, Sign Revolution uses plant-derived ingredients that are all intended to deliver skin hydration.

Awake, a brand owned by the Kosé cosmetics corporation, likens skin aging to the growth rings of a tree trunk. It says a young tree has thick rings that thin as it ages. A period of drought can be especially harsh on a tree so that, on a dry year, its ring can be particularly thin. - Cheche Moral

Relax the SPA Way

Do morning stretches after your shower. Warm muscles are more supple, so you’ll get the most from the stretch.

Run hot water over three small and two large stones until lukewarm (30 to 45 seconds). Lie down; place a small stone between your eyebrows (an acupressure spot that aids relaxation ) and below each eye. Hold a large one in each upturned palm, another relaxation-associated area. Breathe deeply.

Sleep aid: In bed, tense each muscles separately from calves up to shoulders. Accentuating the tautness of your muscles helps you to luxuriate in their relaxation. – Erin Bried

Erase years from your age (2)

So, beginning today, tell yourself you are only as old as you think or as young as you believe yourself to be. Stop telling yourself the following:

“I’m getting old,” “It’s old age,” “I will die soon,” “I’m dying,” “I’m losing my memory,” “I’m losing my mind,” “I will die one day, so… (let me do unhealthy things).”

So what… if

Our bodies experience crow’s feet, less energy/power/drive, less lean mass, loss of hormones, stiffness, sluggishness, memory lapses, weak eyesight, impaired hearing, less sensitivity in taste buds, graying hair or hair thinning/loss. Despite how you feel or what you see in others, aging can be delayed. It does not have to happen too soon, too fast.

Battle plan

If you want to maintain your youthful look well into the 70s, begin now. Develop a plan to fight off the slow encroachment of age. You can:

* see your doctor
* visit a nutritionist, design an eating plan that is balanced
* work out an exercise program
* take adequate vitamin/mineral and antioxidant supplementation
* adopt a social and active lifestyle, one that puts you in touch with people and life
* walk more in the moonlight than in the sunlight
* avoid smoking and excessive drinking
* maintain cleanliness
* avoid medicine overload, try more natural approaches to your health
* stay calm, remove the anger from your heart
* keep learning something new, this keeps both brain and mind exercised
* look on the bright side of life* count your blessings

Anti-aging beverages

Betacarotene is best known for its immune-enhancing properties. Take it in its natural form.Juice two peeled carrots and drink up every other day. In between, juice buko meat in its water. There is a saying: In their youth, people abuse their health to run after wealth. In their old age, they use their wealth to run after their health. -Cory Quirino

It doesn’t have to end this way. Begin a new beginning today.

Erase years from your age (1)

Good morning everyone. I got a good reading article by my favorite author and I’d like to share this with you all specially to those people who are getting older. As she said you can erase years from your age. Not too easy to do, but it will work, when you have the will to do it.

TO understand what erases your age, you have to know what makes you age.

It is said aging today is not like the way it was for our parents. Health consciousness then was not very high. Our mothers and fathers may have undergone this typical transition:

* an extra 10-15 pounds at 30

* wrinkles at 35-40

* dry skin/skin problems at 40

* joint pains at 45

* high cholesterol/hypertension at 50

* osteoporosis/arthritis at 60

* heart disease/cancer at 70

Knowing better

We don’t need to go through this. And we should not. Because we know better. We know that:

* a low-fat diet can control weight gain

* avoiding the sun and using sunscreens can delay/prevent wrinkles

* fruits containing alpha-hydroxy acids can prevent dry, blotchy skin and age spots

* vegetables are loaded with anti-oxidants that the immune system depends on for strength

* exercise and resistance training prevent muscle and bone loss over the years

* meditation and relaxation can delay aging

In short, the age makers are the opposite of what we should know by now and which our parents did not know.

Designed to last

Our body is a near-perfect machine if we learn to take care of it. “The human body is designed to last 110 years,” according to Ben Douglas, Ph.D., professor of anatomy at University of Mississippi Medical Center and author of “Ageless: Living Younger Longer.” -Cory Quirino

Alluring almonds (2)

Purchase the accompanying Skin Toning Massager (P495) and you're on your way to beating those saggy pouches in your arms, hips and stomach. The massager enhances the benefits of the Slimming Gel. It comes with a massage advisor pamphlet that provides a guide to different exercises you can do to help maximize the effects of the Slimming Gel.

The massager helps to evenly diffuse and activate the ingredients of the Slimming Gel within the epidermis, thus enhancing its benefits.

And since today is Father's Day, here's a little tip: The product is safe on all skin types, so you can also treat Dad to a day of massage right in the comfort of your own home. Hey, there's no written law saying that the man of the house won't appreciate a little pampering every now and then.

To complete the sensual experience, light an Almond Delight Candle (P1,245) before, during or after your massage. Its scent will remind you of all the sweet concoctions you've had as a child.

L'Occitane's Almond Line also includes Blossom Dew Fragrant and Invigorating, Shower Oil Cleansing and Softening, Milk Concentrate Firming and Smoothing, Delicious Soap Exfoliating and Fragrant, and Delicious Paste Exfoliating and Defining.

The Almond Line will definitely tease you with its mouth-watering fragrance, but this is one temptation you can give in to without compromising your figure. L'Occitane products are available at Rustan's Essenses. –

Alluring almonds (1)

Good morning everybody. We girls were always conscious about our beauty. We always look for a good brand of beauty products even if it is expensive, as long as the result will be very good to us. Even if we get older, we don’t want to feel that because for us beauty is the thing we gave importance. I have read one article about to add beauty to our selves. Let me share this with you.
WORLD-RENOWNED French beauty brand L'Occitane gives you the privilege to indulge your senses with its Almond Line. The newest product is the Slimming Gel (P1,595), which can firm the skin and reshape the silhouette of the body.

Its ingredients of almond proteins and silicium help keep your skin firm and smooth, while the combination of three essential oils-Immortelle, Peppermint and Cymbopogon-stimulate the blood and lymphatic circulation.

The gel also contains caffeine, which stimulates lypolysis, a process whereby excess lipids are eliminated. Conversely, it also has Uncaria Tometosa to reduce lypogenesis, or the storage of new lipids.

Even though it comes in gel form, this slimming product is rapidly absorbed by the skin and leaves no greasy after-feel. Unlike other products, there is no waiting time for the application to dry, which means you can get dressed immediately after application.

Rustan's Cosmetics and Toiletries Division and L'Occitane brand manager Mirabelle Villanueva says about the Slimming Gel: "Your butt will thank you for it!" Ruth L. Navarra

Know your skin the high-tech way (3)

My eye area, though, shows no sign of aging, so I could choose whatever eye cream I wanted except those which were very rich in texture like Resolution. The choices were Primordial, for prevention of signs of early aging, and Blanc Expert, for dark circles and line prevention.

I chose Blanc Expert as I now knew my tendency for pigmentation. My hydration and firmness quotients were also way above average.

New body rangeHave you passed by PCX or First Aid lately? There is this new French body line that has caught my eye.

The brand is Nuxe, which has a very similar logo and packaging to Origins, but the similarities end there.

The star product in the group is the Multi-usage Dry Oil Golden Shimmer for the hair and body. I apply it to the ends of my hair after every shower and it gives the hair subtle highlights and major shine.

On the body, the Shimmer gives a very flattering glow when applied strategically. The Family Balm, meanwhile, penetrates the driest of areas like the legs, cuticles, hands, heels and elbows. It has mosquito repellant properties and SPF 12, but is gentle enough to be used on the face and on babies.

My personal favorite and something I would definitely buy again is the exfoliating soap. It is coarse enough to be effective for my back, arms and legs without being scratchy. I have successfully eliminated the blackheads and pimples on my back and shoulders and prevented ingrown hairs caused by waxing on my legs. I use it for my back and shoulders daily but twice a week on my legs.

Know your skin the high-tech way (2)

Needless to say, the results shocked me. I never go under the sun, have been wearing sun block since I was 12, and have been praised numerous times for my poreless skin. Even the girl had to double check, as she too was surprised.

Turns out that while I just take care of my skin really well and have been using the right products ever since, pigmentation was just about ready to break out under the skin.

If you look at the surface of my skin, there is none visible. But on the screen, as clear as day, there was a huge map of pigmentation with only tiny spaces in between just dying to burst to the surface. Obviously, my vacations in Boracay where I put my guard down to enjoy the sun left considerable damage that was set to surprise me when I got older.

My friends laughed out loud when the entire whitening range Blanc Expert with Mela No-Cx was recommended for me to correct this. Having such strong Chinese ancestry gave me very light skin, but the abundance of melanin which makes skin age slower also makes it prone to hyperpigmentation. A lot of fair-skinned Asians would probably have that same problem.

The good thing with using a whitening/brightening range is that you can break them down before using them. For my pores, I would substitute the Blanc Expert essence for the Sensation Total vitamin C serum which cleans out and contracts pores as well as repairs any environmental damage. My day moisturizer would be Lancôme's SPF 50+ sun block.

Know your skin the high-tech way (1)

Good morning everyone. Do you know what kind of skin you have? Do you know if the cream you are using will not irritate your skin?

THERE are so many skincare products out there that one hardly knows what to pick for a particular skin type.

Most of us have a combination of problems that it's hard to stick to a specific regimen that treats just one. Lancôme has decided to lend us a helping hand in the form of Diagnos, a really high-tech machine which I tried out in Rustan's Makati. You will not be charged for using the machine, so you needn't worry about that.

Diagnos is used by Lancôme scientists to uncover the specific problem of your skin so you may deal with it accordingly. What you find out may surprise you. First, you will be asked how old you are, then the machine which has a computer monitor will magnify your skin 60 times and look deep down.

Diagnos will measure oil production on the T-zone and cheeks, firmness, hydration and pore size, and monitor signs of aging and pigmentation as well. It will compare your results with the average age group of your race (Caucasian, Asian, African American, etc.) and you will get results indicating if you are above average or in trouble.

My results showed that my skin was definitely younger than average. It even looked better than those of average Asian women in their 20s, said the machine.

My problems? My oil production was three times more than the average 30-year-old, and there were huge pores and very dark pigmentation deep down.

Your skin's best friends (4)

Dermapolish Treatment Cream sloughs away surface skin cells to accelerate renewal and uncover new skin. With weekly use, it diminishes the appearance of age spots and sun damage and smoothes away the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Post Treatment Soothing Mist is an anti-oxidant mist, which cools and hydrates post-Dermapolish skin with a complex of Brazilian red algae extracts, green tea and aloe vera.

Lipid Barrier Cream is a regenerative moisture formula which restores the skin's protective lipid barrier up to 67 percent.

Desiree Go, 28, who works for First Quadrant, started using these products after spending Holy Week in Boracay this year. "My skin darkened that my foundation didn't match my skin tone. Since I've been using the makeup line of Prescriptives for four years now, its beauty consultant recommended the microdermabrasion products to rejuvenate my dull skin. After a month, my skin truly improved."

The microdermabrasion products of Dermalogica, Estée Lauder, La Prairie and Prescriptives are available at Rustan's Essenses. E-mail the author at

Your skin's best friends (3)

Applying Cellular Softening and Balancing Lotion is the second step. It helps restore an optimum pH balance in the skin, improves suppleness and provides anti-inflammatory benefits.

"These products can be used in conjunction with other treatments, with the exception of other exfoliation products, which should be discontinued one week prior to beginning treatment," says Tricia Bolido, La Prairie brand manager.

Bolido adds that microdermabrasion should be performed before taking a bath every other day for a five-day period-massaging no longer than one minute on facial skin, two minutes on other areas of the body. Then the skin should rest for five days, before undertaking a once-a-week maintenance program.

Anti-inflammatory

"What's good with La Prairie is its anti-inflammatory lotion, which protects the skin after microdermabrasion," says Leah Fabia, 42, who owns Philippine Nautical Training Center. She has stopped going to a facial center for exfoliation since she used La Prairie products a month ago.

"I used to have a freckle on the left cheek, which I cover with a concealer. La Prairie products have helped even my skin tone and diminish lines. I used to have foot spa twice a month. Now, I don't go to a spa that often to enjoy this relaxing treatment."

Prescriptives' Dermapolish is a three-part system that delivers results comparable to an aesthetician's professional microdermabrasion without the usual redness and irritation-or expense.

Gentle Cream Exfoliant is a multi-part complex of lactic acid, salicylic acid, sulfur and fruit enzymes, which detach dead skin debris and promote cell renewal.

Skin Renewal Booster is a blend of hydroxy acids and natural humectants for increased cell renewal and healthier-looking skin.

Award-winning

On the other hand, Estée Lauder's award-winning Idealist Micro-D and Idealist Skin Refinisher deliver skin resurfacing benefits with their TripleSphere Refinishing System. The brands also offer deep, thermal action that warms skin to help open, detoxify and minimize pores.

"In an instant, you'll feel it's kinda warm. It's what we call deep thermal action. It wakes up lazy cells to hasten skin peeling and renewal," says Gladys Gonzales, Estée Lauder and Prescriptives assistant brand manager. "The products' non-acid formula takes care of skin's problems like pores, flakiness, redness and fine lines. They don't clash with other products that you use and even complement your existing skincare regimen."

La Prairie proffers a luxurious two-part treatment that polishes and perfects skin on the face and body, diminishing lines and stimulating micro circulation.

Cellular Microdermabrasion Cream is an exfoliating treatment that gently removes the dull, aging outer layer of skin not only on the face but also on trouble spots as knees, elbows, heels, where thickened skin and calluses occur. The cream comes with three specialized sponge applicators: the white is for the face; pink for the body; and black for the most rigorous problem areas.

Your skin's best friends (1)

Good morning everybody. As like me, I always wanted to have a soft skin. Some may have the problem of that. It may be sometimes hard to do that. We buy different kinds of lotion or even drink some vitamin E just to have a good looking skin. With a good protection of our skin we can always be confident wherever we go.

THEY say age brings wisdom, and that's okay. But it also brings about telltale signs of aging on the face. There are many beauty companies that share their products for all of us. There is Dermalogica, Estée Lauder, La Prairie and Prescriptives. They expose their product to public that restore the skin's texture, reduce lines and even prevent the onslaught of new ones. They have tapped into the growing home microdermabrasion trend.

Microdermabrasion is a treatment where dead skin cells are removed with tiny silicon or aluminum-oxide crystals blown against the skin, then sucked up with a small vacuum. With the new at-home exfoliation alternatives by skincare brands, one will get similar results (smoother, more even-toned skin) within about four weeks.

Daily Microfoliant is a rice-based enzyme powder which microfoliates dulling debris. Its skin-brightening complex balances uneven skin pigmentation while the active agents from rice bran and rice extracts help regulate melanin production and microfoliate dead cells.

Skin Prep Scrub's natural corn cob meal and soothing botanicals polish away dead skin cells without over stimulating the skin.

How to wear fake eyelashes

Good morning friends. Some women do have very short and thin eyelashes. And they want to look that thicker. So there is this fake eyelashes (false eyelashes). Have you ever tried to wear fake eye lashes? I tried ones and at first it’s difficult but when you have a constant practice you will find it easy to wear.

Many women do like to wear false eyelashes. I believe they are the best alternative to a fuller lashes. Some usually use full band lashes whenever they have occasion to attend. It’s the easiest to apply.

But for personal use, individual lashes are others preference, because they are the most natural-looking and are like hair extensions. You can use black or brown, but mixing the two colors is ideal. You have to trim before you use them. Or you can trim them yourself using eyebrow scissors. Use your own lashes as your guide. False eyelashes should be the same length as your natural lashes. [1] Before attaching the fake eyelashes, curl your lashes first and line your eyes with a dark brown or black pencil. This will help conceal the lash roots. [2] Equip yourself with your supplies: eyebrow scissors to trim, tweezers to apply, the lashes and the glue. [3] Put a drop of lash glue on a hard surface (the outside of the case holding the lashes is perfect) and let it dry for a minute. [4] Hold the lash tip with tweezers and dip the root in the glue. Give it a few seconds to dry a little. [5] Starting at the outer corner, wedge the glued lashes between your natural lashes and hold it in place for a few seconds. A couple of clusters at the outer corners of the upper lashes are usually enough, but you can also use them to fill in any sparse areas.

What to do about under-eye wrinkles

Good morning friends. Many people have the same problem. The under-eye wrinkle. We can easily acquire that wrinkle. One of that is lack of sleep, wiping the eyes so hard, and sometimes we read for song long and then after our eyes get tired and sleepy, we wash our face fast without resting for sometime because we hurry up to go to bed. We don’t want our face to be sticky with oil in face, that’s why after some long time doings using our eyes we don’t rest a little. There is a way to do about your under-eye wrinkles.

You can tell a lot about a person just by looking at her eyes. But the eyes may reveal much more than we intend to show. Our age, diet and sleeping habits may be on display, as the skin around the eyes is significantly thinner than the skin on the rest of the face, which means it is less able to hold in moisture. Also, there are fewer oil glands on this area so all the more it is prone to dryness.

With the absence of a fatty layer underneath the eye area to act as a shock absorber, skin quickly loses its suppleness and elasticity. Keeping in mind the saying: “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure,” there is no better time to start a daily eye care treatment than today.

Purchase an eye cream that’s right for you. Confusing as it may be with new ranges of eye cream being introduced to the market, finding the right one is well worth the research. Applying just any moisturizer or lotion may be too heavy for the skin around the eyes and can block the tear ducts. This causes the eyes to appear puffy.

Always check the labels to find the eye cream to suit your needs:

“De-puffing.” These creams may contain ingredients like caffeine, chamomile or cucumber that help shrink puffy skin around the eyes. –Kelly Mesa

How to prevent sticky hair strands

Good morning everyone. Summer is still here even though we know that it will reach the end. Those people specially women who have a problem with their hair strands. Some said that they have sticky hair strands that’s why sometimes they feel awful with that. But there is a way to prevent sticky hair strand.

Summer is a great reason for people to bring out all their skimpy clothes and head to the beach with their tiny bikinis. Naturally, having a killer bod gets you more attention, and having beautiful hair is a plus.

Yet showing more skin, by no means, makes it any easier. The sun and heat damage your hair, vaporizing all the moisture needed for it to look healthy and shiny. Sticky hair strands, frizzy hair and greasy roots are just some of the things to beware of. Since each person is unique, and so are their hair needs, the trick is finding the products that are just right for you.

The best place to start is with recommendations made by those who’ve put their money where their mouth is—the people who’ve personally bought and tested these products.

I asked two professionals about their tried-and-tested hair products and hair secrets. They were only too happy to share.

How do you keep your hair smooth and shiny this summer? Their answers make for the beauty junkie’s ultimate wish list. Here are the techniques and products you should get your hands on this summer:

Patricia Morato, bridal designer

“I use products from Lee Stafford, like the Dehumidifier, to fight humidity. I also use L’Oréal Anti-frizz Serum or just put coconut oil when I’m at home.”
Antoinette Enciso, tutoring center director/model

“My hair regimen includes only shampooing/conditioning every day, and I usually do this in the evening before going to bed, so when I wake up it isn’t frizzy. I also try to go for moisture treatments every other month in the parlor. To control frizz, I use Kiehl’s Silk Serum.

It’s much easier to decide when you have much less to choose from. Thankfully, we have these two celebrities who have done the trial-and-error, making this process much easier on the frustrated beauty-holic. – Isabel Roces

Beautiful Skin

New Solutions for problem complexions

Dry skin
In the winter, my usual facial soap is too drying. What can I use instead? Try new Dove Deep Moisture Creamy Facial Cleanser, like all Dove cleansers, it’s made with moisturizing cream and it has the added benefits of vitamins A and E to help soothe dry skin.

Dark circles
Even when I’m well rested, the dark circles under my eyes don’t seem to go away. Is there anything that can help? Dab on Grassroots right Future Skin Brightening Eye Cream, in the morning and at night. It has reflective mica for immediate results, and magnolia, cucumber and chamomile for long-term benefits.

Dermabrasion
The skin on my chest is starting to look crepey and has some age spots. Is it safe to use a microdermabrasion product for my face on my decolletage? Probably, but a more effective treatment is the new L’Oreal Paris Refinish Chest, Arms & Hands MicroDermabrasion Kit. It’s similar to the microdermabrasion products for the face, but it’s made with a gel that’s easier to products for the face, but it’s made with a gel that’s easier to products for the face, but it’s made with a gel that’s easier to apply and rinse off your body. An added bonus is the step-two moisturizer that helps minimize stretch marks. You can expect great results from the first time you use it.

Blocked Pores
Short of squeezing and picking, is there anything I can do to get rid of blackheads? Wash your face at night with Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating 2-in-1 Foaming Pads. Formulated with salicylic acid, one side is textured to exfoliate skin and remove blackheads. The other side is smooth to wash away dirt and makeup to prevent new blackheads from forming.

Good Looks

Glam in under 10 minutes

Good morning everybody. There are easy beauty tips that will get you out the door faster. This will be the best for those who works in the office. They have less time to fix themselves. But there will be no problem. Ann Louise Fritz made it possible and I thank for that for that article. Even with me, it helps a lot. Women on the go, here is your solution.

Hair

The secret: Don’t try too hard. At the end of the day, you want to look as if you’re enjoying the day, not like the obsessed with your hair.

♥ A classic bun is a timeless, elegant and easy look. The best part is, it’s supposed to look a little messy, so don’t stress about getting every last hair in place. Simply rub a little Sebastian Original Molding Mud between your palms and pull hair back into a loose ponytail. Split it into two sections, twist one part clockwise and the other counter clockwise, pin and you’re done.

♥ Another simple look is to make a deep side part, then pull the short side back with a sparkly barrette for a clean, pulled together style.

Fragrance

If you want to add a little more drama to your persona, try a spritz of the new Fusion Fraqrance. The attention-getting perfume is a blend of mandarin, jasmine and musk.

Makeup

You don’t have to change your look, “just add a little razzle-dazzle.”

♥ A shimmery eye shadow with a lined eye is party-perfect. Cream eyeliners is plums, burgundies and blues are foolproof choice. Tyr DuWop’s Violet Eyes, which has a base color, shimmer and a cream liner all in one.

♥ Mascara is a must. New L’Oreal Paris 2-step Volume Shocking Mascara, plumps and lengthens lashes for true glam style.

♥ Red lips are always gorgeous, but can be tricky to achieve in a hurry. Opt for a transparent red gloss with a bit of shimmer, like Revlon’s Lipgloss in Amethyst Dazzle.

In Humid Months. . . . .

Good morning everybody. I read one article in a magazine and it did a good one. Most of us have some problem with our hair when times of damp month. They don’t know what to do. How will they fix their hair. What will they put on their hair to look that perfect. Frequently women asked how can they control their hair during humid months.

Washing every other day helps dry, frizz-prone hair stay softer. Of course, when all else fails, you can be a big believer in the updo.

Some can have two strikes against yourself: when your hair is colored, and you blow it dry daily, keep it from looking coarse. Apply a deep-conditioning hair mask each week. You can use any Intensive Treatment Mask that you want.

Some straightened their hair occasionally, so you can put Ouidad Climate Control Gel on your waves to stop them from going haywire on humid days.

If your hair is on the oily side, you can get away with conditioning every few days. Shampoo is usually enough to maintain soft, shiny hair. But on weekends, you are always running around outside, so you moisturize with a leave-in conditioner. You can use Neutrogena Instant Shine Detangler.
